Security Administrator
At Allan Webb, we are currently seeking a Security Administrator to join our Compliance and Security team on a fixed term contract for 1 year and play a vital role in managing our personnel security vetting processes and maintaining our security accreditations.
This position is based in our Stonehouse office and will require regular office attendance (5 days per week during probation.)
About the Role
As Security Administrator, you'll be at the heart of our security operations, managing the end-to-end personnel security vetting and compliance processes for AWL employees. This includes processing BPSS and SC checks, conducting security aftercare reviews, and liaising with government departments and internal teams to ensure adherence to IPSA standards. You'll also support the team with supplier security risk assessments and GDPR requirements, helping to maintain our company's security accreditation.
This is a role that requires discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost professionalism.
What You'll Be Doing
Responsibilities
- Process BPSS checks in line with AWL employee onboarding process, involving third party systems and liaison with the People team and potential new employees
- Raise new security checks where required and act as a liaison point between government departments and/or companies regarding staff vetting
- Work with the People team to ensure recruitment and onboarding processes are streamlined and integrated with the Compliance and Security team's processes
- Raise new Security Checks (SC's), transfer or share SCs where relevant with UKSV
- Schedule and conduct security aftercare reviews on all AWL employees in line with role risk profiles to Industry Personnel Security Assurance (IPSA) requirements and standards
- Analyse and interpret results from criminal record checks, social media checks, financial checks, along with responses on Security Appraisal Forms (SAF) and make decisions on future reviews and actions, escalating to Security Controllers when necessary
- Raise Aftercare Incident Reports (AIRs) with UKSV under the instruction of the Security Controllers
- Ensure AWL SCs are renewed before their expiry date and maintain good security records
- Review and update Personnel Security policy, processes and procedures in line with IPSA to maintain our accreditation
- Assist the Security Controllers with IPSA accreditation audits and the Compliance and Security team with ISO27001 audits
- Manage the supplier approval and monitoring process, conducting supplier assessments and due diligence in collaboration with the IT Support Manager and Head of CSEC Manager
- Maintain supplier performance records and compliance documentation on behalf of CSEC

What We're Looking For
Essential
- Strong understanding of personnel security vetting processes and BPSS/SC clearance procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with employees, managers, government departments and external organisations
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Understanding of IPSA standards and requirements
- Proficiency in using security management systems and databases
- Ability to analyse and interpret information from various sources to make informed decisions
Desirable
- Previous experience in a security administration or personnel vetting role
- Knowledge of ISO27001 standards and audit processes
- Experience with supplier risk assessment and due diligence
- Understanding of GDPR and data protection requirements
- Familiarity with defence sector security requirements

Due to the nature of this role with the Ministry of Defence, the successful candidate must undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) pre-employment screening and obtain a formal Security Check (SC) clearance within the first 12 months of employment.

- Be a UK national, or have the legal right to work and live in the UK.
- Normally have resided in the UK for a minimum of 5 consecutive years immediately prior to application to enable necessary background checks.
