Job Overview/Purpose

Reporting to the Threat Detection & Response Lead, the Security Analyst: 3rd Line is a senior technical role within the Security Operations Centre and provides the primary escalation path for complex incidents and investigations raised by 1st and 2nd Line analysts.

The role is responsible for leading advanced investigations, managing high-severity security incidents and breaches through to resolution, and ensuring that containment, remediation, recovery and customer communication are coordinated effectively.

Detection, hunting and service improvement

Working closely with the Threat Detection & Response Lead, Security Operations Manager, Security Engineering, Customer Success and the wider Cybersecurity Practice, the role uses threat intelligence, proactive threat hunting and detailed analysis to identify risk, improve detections and strengthen customer security posture.

The role also contributes to the continuous improvement of SOC tooling, playbooks, processes and operational best practice, while providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced analysts.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the investigation and response to complex cyber security incidents, helping customers quickly contain threats, recover services and strengthen their defences.
  • Act as a senior escalation point within the SOC, providing technical expertise on high-priority security events, breaches and emerging threats.
  • Proactively hunt for threats across customer environments using Microsoft security technologies, identifying risks before they become incidents.
  • Drive continuous improvement in detection capabilities by enhancing analytics, automation, threat intelligence and investigation processes.
  • Assess customer security posture, uncover vulnerabilities and provide practical recommendations to reduce risk across cloud, identity, endpoint and network environments.
  • Mentor and support SOC analysts, sharing knowledge, developing best practices and helping raise the overall capability of the team.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers, clearly communicating security risks, remediation plans and technical insights while contributing to the ongoing evolution of the SOC service.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
