Job title: 3rd Line Security Analyst
Location: Reading - Hybrid - 3 days in office and 2 from home
About the role
We are looking for a 3rd Line Security Analyst to act as the senior technical authority within Security Operations. This is a hands-on technical role focused on security engineering, incident response, threat hunting, digital forensics and automation. You will be responsible for the ongoing improvement of security platforms, detection capabilities and operational processes, while providing technical leadership and escalation support across the wider team.
Main duties
- Lead the response to complex and high-severity security incidents.
- Conduct digital forensic investigations and root cause analysis.
- Design, implement and optimise detection content across security platforms.
- Administer and engineer security technologies including Microsoft Sentinel, Defender XDR, CrowdStrike Falcon, Entra ID, Intune and Darktrace.
- Develop and maintain security automation and orchestration workflows.
- Conduct proactive threat hunting and analyse emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
- Support cloud, identity and endpoint security across Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS and hybrid environments.
- Produce technical documentation and support governance, compliance and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing across security operations teams.

Experience and knowledge
- Significant experience within a SOC, Cyber Security Operations or Security Engineering environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender XDR and CrowdStrike Falcon.
- Experience in incident response, threat hunting, malware analysis and digital forensics.
- Advanced KQL skills and experience developing complex detections and threat hunting queries.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell and/or Python.
- Experience administering Entra ID, Conditional Access, Intune and Microsoft 365 security solutions.
- Knowledge of Azure, AWS, networking, identity security and security frameworks including MITRE ATT&CK, NIST and SANS.
- CISSP certification is desirable.
