Principal Cyber Security Architect & Engineering Lead
£100,000–£110,000 + 15% Bonus
London / Milton Keynes
I’m working with an established UK organisation going through a significant business, technology and cyber security transformation, and we’re looking for a senior Cyber Security Architect & Engineering Lead to play a key role in shaping what comes next.
This isn’t an opportunity to simply inherit a mature security function and maintain what’s already there.
A new Cyber Security strategy has been approved, investment is being made across cloud, digital platforms, AI and modern technology, and the security capability is being built and matured alongside that transformation.
We’re looking for someone who can sit between Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture and Engineering – helping define the security roadmap while ensuring that strategy translates into practical, well-engineered security solutions.
The role will involve:
- Helping define and deliver the organisation’s Enterprise Security Architecture and Engineering roadmap
- Establishing and evolving security architecture principles, standards, patterns and guardrails
- Embedding Secure by Design across technology programmes and transformation
- Acting as a senior security authority across architecture and technical design decisions
- Working closely with Enterprise Architects, Cloud, Infrastructure, Engineering and Product teams
- Driving security across cloud, identity, applications, infrastructure and modern engineering environments
- Helping mature DevSecOps and Secure SDLC practices
- Translating cyber risk and strategy into practical technical solutions
- Providing architecture assurance across major technology programmes
- Working directly with senior technology and security leadership to shape future capability
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring to Security Engineers as the function continues to grow
- Helping build a modern Security Architecture & Engineering capability, rather than simply operating an established model

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
You don’t need to be the person configuring every tool day-to-day, but you do need strong technical credibility and the ability to challenge, guide and work effectively with Architects and Engineers.
Experience helping an organisation build, mature or transform its security capability would be particularly valuable.
This could suit someone from Financial Services, Insurance, FinTech, InsurTech, WealthTech or another complex/regulatory environment who wants the opportunity to have more influence and ownership.
