Thornford Park Security Assistant

Are you calm under pressure, vigilant by nature and passionate about creating a safe and welcoming environment? Join our team at Thornford Park as a Security Assistant and play a vital role in helping to maintain the safety, security and wellbeing of our service users, visitors and staff.

Working closely with the Security Manager, you will be responsible for upholding the hospital's security procedures and standards while ensuring a professional and approachable presence across the site. As an important member of the Support Services team, you will help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment, supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the hospital.

In this varied role, you will monitor and maintain security procedures in line with hospital policies and guidelines, support the implementation of the Security Manager's strategy and contribute to the effective running of the security function. You will be responsible for welcoming visitors, handling telephone enquiries professionally and building positive working relationships with service users, visitors, colleagues and external stakeholders.

You will play an active role in promoting a positive culture throughout the hospital, demonstrating professionalism at all times and challenging unacceptable behaviour when necessary. As part of your ongoing development, you will participate in regular performance reviews and seek opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge.

  • Significant previous experience working within a secure environment (desirable)

Where You Will Be Working

Location: Crookham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8ET

Thornford Park is a 141 bed hospital set within 21 acres of Berkshire countryside, offering a seamless care pathway across medium and low secure services, psychiatric intensive care units (PICUs), and rehabilitation flats. The site supports men and women with complex Mental Health needs, Personality Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Autism—often with histories of offending or previous placement challenges.
