Position Summary:

Working collaboratively with the DC operations team, off site and on site at critical project stages to test and commission data center security systems. Responsibilities may include overseeing the installation, quality assurance checks, configuration, and supporting clients with remote network configuration. Furthermore, supporting account executives as a subject matter expert.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical guidance and support for the installation teams, configures, and supports a wide variety of network systems and equipment within the Data Centre vertical. Ensuring and managing a robust and smooth commissioning of the project by Coordinating between the PM/ Engineers and the Contractors aligned with the clients prescribed commissioning processes. Preparing and maintaining commission records of site observations, testing processes and checklists.
  • Works directly with project teams and on occasion client IT departments to ensure all scope and interfaces are planned and implemented.
  • Assists colleagues with IT/networking technical issues on projects. Occasionally supporting Convergint service team with IT/networking service calls, providing diagnostic and troubleshooting support for possible problems including debugging software, installation problems etc.
  • Assists the sales and design teams with developing bid proposals as a subject matter expert, providing a wide variety of technical advice as required for system planning and implementation.
  • Always acts as “our customer’s best service provider” thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
  • Consults with colleagues to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance.
  • Reviews and identifies new products & tools to improve productivity and efficiencies. Implements these ideas with the rest of the project team.
  • Executes many of the technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets including, programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, Factory acceptance testing customer training, close-out documentation, and on-going technical support etc.
  • Identifies potential project risks, communicates to appropriate parties, and assist in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and to control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Works closely with the Project Manager and/or Engineering Manager and assists in the overall coordination of specific projects; makes recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes in scope and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • May prepare and/or review formal submittal documents, containing schematics, and technical literature as necessary to support assigned tasks/jobs.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Relevant Education

  • Availability to work Nationally and Internationally

Experience

  • Experience and ideally qualified with at least one of the following systems:
    • v C-Cure
    • Lenel
    • Honeywell
    • S2
    • Genetec
    • AXIS
    • Milestone

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience with data center security systems.

Education, Certifications & Licenses:

  • Must possess three or more of the following certifications. Other network and/or industry certifications or experience may be substituted where appropriate. Must have valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Formal training in network design installation and maintenance
  • Advanced Enterprise level vendor certification Lenel Onguard Expert, Data Pro/Expert, CCURE lv4, Genetec ETC/STC-002OTC-002
  • Other industry recognised networking, VM or server certifications

Protective Clothing Required:

The position may require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hard hat, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes or work boots, as required on job site.

Work Environment:

The position is a hybrid role comprising of home working and site/office visits, travel to site will be required at appropriate times to align with critical project stages, this will require overnight stays, but will not exceed 50% of the time.
