Security Consultant - Technical Cyber Specialist
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Location: Remote with ad-hoc travel (London / Birmingham)
Mandatory: Active SC Clearance
Join Reed Professional Services (RPS), a leading digital transformation consultancy, as a Security Consultant. This role is pivotal in supporting a fast-paced digital portfolio that includes cloud-hosted platforms, enterprise SaaS solutions, and integration-heavy services. Ideal for a strong mid-level consultant, this position offers the opportunity to work within delivery teams and support senior consultants in ensuring robust cyber security across our projects.
Day-to-Day of the Role
- Support project-level security assurance and risk management activities.
- Gather and document control evidence and assurance artefacts.
- Maintain risk registers, actions, and remediation tracking.
- Support audits, reviews, and formal assurance processes.
- Work with delivery teams to implement agreed security controls.
- Assist with cloud and SaaS security assurance tasks.
- Ensure decisions, risks, and controls are clearly documented and traceable.
- Produce security risk assessments, risk positions, and pragmatic control recommendations across cloud, SaaS, and integration-heavy environments.
- Support remediation activity by working with delivery teams to agree actions, track progress, and evidence closure.
- Engage with architects, suppliers, programme teams, and senior stakeholders to provide effective security challenge and guidance.
- Create stakeholder-ready outputs including risk summaries, assurance updates, decision papers, and evidence packs.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting security assurance and risk management in live environments.
- Familiarity with cloud and SaaS platforms (AWS exposure preferred).
- Ability to work methodically with evidence, risks, and actions.
- Comfortable working across multiple workstreams.
- Practical, delivery-focused approach.
- Experience assessing security risks across API-driven and integration-heavy environments.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to challenge delivery teams constructively.
- Ability to develop risk positions, remediation plans, and actionable security recommendations.
- Excellent written communication skills, producing concise assurance documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience engaging with stakeholders ranging from engineers and architects to senior security leadership.

Desirable Skills
- Exposure to public sector or regulated environments.
- Experience with ServiceNow, Salesforce, or similar SaaS platforms.
- Interest or exposure to OT / IoT / PropTech security.
- Exposure to GovAssure or government assurance frameworks.
- Experience working within central government environments.
- Knowledge of cloud security architecture principles within AWS environments.
Soft Skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Able to act as a constructive "critical friend" when identifying security risks and weaknesses.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with multiple competing priorities.
- Pragmatic approach, balancing security requirements with delivery objectives.
Additional Information:
BPSS and active Security Clearance required.
