Hours: 4 on 4 off, 07:00 - 19:00 and 19:00 - 07:00, average 42 hours a week
Pay: £16.09 per hour
Join Our Team as a Security Controller!
We are seeking a highly motivated and vigilant Security Controller to join our team at Norton Folgate. This is a critical position responsible for delivering the command-and-control function through fire control room systems, processes, and procedures, ensuring the highest standards of fire safety and emergency response across the site.
The successful candidate will provide proactive fire oversight, coordinate emergency responses, support security operations, and undertake digital fire patrol monitoring to complement on-site security personnel. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will play a key role in identifying, controlling, responding to, and reporting fire-related incidents and risks while maintaining strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.
This role requires excellent situational awareness, strong decision-making abilities, and a proactive approach to risk management.
About The Role
As a Security Controller, you will be responsible for:
- Monitoring and operating fire control room systems to maintain effective command and control of fire safety operations.
- Conducting proactive digital fire patrols and surveillance to identify potential fire risks, hazards, and suspicious activity.
- Coordinating emergency responses in accordance with site fire response and rescue plans.
- Maintaining continuous communication with security teams, contractors, management, and other control rooms.
- Responding promptly to fire alarms, incidents, and emergency situations, ensuring appropriate escalation procedures are followed.
- Producing accurate incident reports, logs, and records of all fire-related activity.
- Delivering comprehensive shift handovers, ensuring critical site information is communicated effectively between teams.
- Supporting the enforcement of fire safety procedures and contribute to the ongoing protection of people, property, and assets.

What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience within a control room, security operations, fire safety, emergency response, or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of command-and-control processes and incident management procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify risks and threats proactively
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, effective decisions during emergency situations.
- Strong IT skills and experience using monitoring, CCTV, alarm, or control room systems.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders and work collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
