Security Data Engineer

Location: London, Manchester, Halifax, UK (Hybrid - 2 days in a week)

Role purpose

Design and deliver scalable security data platforms, pipelines and integrations. Enable analytics, machine learning and knowledge graph use cases by providing reliable, governed and timely security data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build scalable batch and streaming pipelines for security telemetry and enterprise data.
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes, data models, APIs and integration services.
  • Integrate platforms such as ServiceNow, Dynatrace and security tooling into enterprise data ecosystems.
  • Build and maintain Security Knowledge Graph data pipelines and graph models.
  • Prepare trusted datasets and features for analytics and machine learning use cases.
  • Implement data quality, lineage, governance, access control and observability.
  • Optimize data architectures for performance, resilience, scalability and cost.
  • Collaborate with security analysts, data scientists, platform teams and architects.

Essential Experience And Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience, including substantial hands-on experience in the core specialisms of this role.
  • Strong data engineering experience with Python, SQL and modern data platforms.
  • ETL/ELT, APIs, event streaming and cloud data engineering.
  • Knowledge of ML engineering and feature/data pipeline requirements.
  • Graph databases and Security Knowledge Graph concepts.
  • ServiceNow, Dynatrace or comparable ITSM/observability integration experience.
  • Understanding of security telemetry, threat intelligence and data governance.

Qualifications And Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in cyber security, computer science, engineering, data science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional cloud data engineering certification is desirable.
  • Databricks, Snowflake or equivalent data platform certification is advantageous.
  • Security or cloud security certification is desirable.
