Security Engineer
Location: Cardiff Hybrid
Salary: Up to £45,000
Employment Type: Permanent
The Opportunity
Join a leading Microsoft identity and security specialist helping UK organisations strengthen their security posture, modernise their cloud environments and protect the identities that sit at the heart of their technology estates.
This is an opportunity to join a growing Security Operations function, supporting both internal security requirements and a portfolio of clients across a range of industries.
You’ll work across Microsoft security technologies, Azure infrastructure and SOC operations, helping organisations move beyond reactive security towards stronger, more resilient security foundations.
The role is primarily remote, with occasional attendance required, and offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of security environments rather than being tied to a single customer or technology.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and continuously improve security controls across systems, networks and data.
- Work across the Microsoft security ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Microsoft Sentinel.
- Manage and improve Microsoft 365 security and compliance policies.
- Conduct and support security audits across Microsoft 365 environments.
- Support incident response activities and contribute to the development of effective IR processes.
- Work alongside SOC teams to investigate and respond to security incidents.
- Support the security of Azure infrastructure and cloud environments.
- Identify vulnerabilities, risks and opportunities to strengthen security controls.
- Provide security engineering support across a portfolio of client environments.
- Work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to improve overall security maturity.

Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience within Security Engineering, Cyber Security Engineering or Senior Security Analysis.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft security stack.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune.
- Understanding of Microsoft 365 security and compliance policies.
- Experience conducting security audits across Microsoft 365 environments.
- Good understanding of incident response processes.
- Experience working with Azure infrastructure.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:
- Experience with SOC environments or SOC-as-a-Service.
- Exposure to network security and firewall technologies.
- Experience working across multiple customer environments.
- Relevant Microsoft security certifications.
