Security Engineer II
We are seeking an experienced Security Engineer II that will become a member of a growing Security Team in Kraken Technologies. You’ll play a crucial role in helping to secure our organisation by building and managing our security tooling, integrating security best practices, and shaping a culture of security. This is a creative, and collaborative position that is a full-time member of a dynamic engineering organisation. Specifically, we're looking for a Security Engineer II with at least 2 years of relevant experience to help us improve security across Kraken Technologies.

🚀 What you’ll own
You will be supporting the following activities:
- Build security services and engineer security guardrails for cloud-native environments and AI
- Support security operations and help improve incident processes (not on an on-call rota)
- Build, manage, and improve enterprise security tooling, such as Okta, Crowdstrike, and Zscaler focusing on GitOps and automation
- Work with the wider TechOps (IT support team), Platform, and application teams to constantly harden our infrastructure, systems, and applications are secure
- Keep up to date with the latest security architecture and technologies and assess how they could benefit the company
- Develop and maintain security documentation related to security tooling, including technical documentation and guides.
🧠 What you’ll bring to the party
- Leadership skills and the ability to get things done
- Information security and engineering background
- Familiarity with managing enterprise security tools at-scale with a GitOps focus
- Experience with security tools and technologies, such as web application firewalls (WAFs), static and dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST) tools, and vulnerability scanners
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate security risks
⭐️ Bonus points
- Experience with Python and Terraform (or another similar language)
- Previous experience with managing enterprise security tools
- Familiar with zero trust access principles and implementation
- Security certifications (any of the famous abbreviations)
- Certifications from Cloud and platform providers’ certification paths
- Security qualifications (e.g. apprenticeships or degrees)
- Engineering qualifications
