Security Engineer | Cyber Security | Detection Engineering

📍London based, 2 days a week onsite
đź’¸Salary up to ÂŁ80k

I'm working with a leading financial services organisation looking to hire a Security Engineer to join its Proactive Security team.

This is a hands-on role focused on security engineering, detection engineering, SIEM, threat hunting and automation. You'll help design, deploy and improve security capabilities that strengthen the organisation's cyber resilience.

What you'll be doing

  • Design and optimise security monitoring and detection capabilities
  • Build and maintain SIEM content, detection rules and automated workflows
  • Develop threat hunting and detection use cases based on emerging threats
  • Improve visibility across infrastructure, applications, identities and cloud environments
  • Develop security automation and orchestration capabilities
  • Support logging, monitoring and security tooling projects
  • Work closely with SOC and incident response teams to improve detection and response

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of dedicated Security Engineering experience
  • Strong SIEM and detection engineering experience
  • Experience with threat hunting, security monitoring and security automation
  • PowerShell and/or Python scripting skills
  • Experience with enterprise security technologies including SIEM, EDR and DLP
  • Strong understanding of identity security, Active Directory and authentication
  • Knowledge of cloud security and enterprise networking
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and NIST

This role is best suited to someone with a strong security engineering focus rather than a broad cyber security background. We're looking for candidates who have spent their recent career designing, implementing and improving security capabilities, rather than moving between multiple cyber disciplines.
