About The Role

The importance of Security in current times now features more than ever, as the technology changes it brings in newer security risks and exposure to newer threats, we need to enable businesses to run and grow in various technologies, industry domains and geographies. The assurance around security is a critical success factor and criteria. Security is a fast-paced and growing industry. It is our responsibility as a major telecommunication provider to maintain our position as leaders within this field not only in UK but in every place across the globe where BT has information, assets, customers and people.

Security Protect BT directly underpins the BT Security Enterprise strategy - driving double-digit growth to grow from £0.5bn to a £1bn business for BT. Protecting BT is an essential part of the pan-BT strategy, our position within UK Critical National Infrastructure and influence with UK National Cyber Security Centre and other similar agencies worldwide. This benefits not only BT, but our customers, society and our communities.

You are critical in supporting the Security mission. The role holder is responsible for:

  • Developing and delivering the intelligence analysis for your portfolio area, working to mitigate and reduce risk.
  • Delivering tactical analysis to help the business mitigate and minimise risk.
  • Working as a team to share information and intelligence in order to fully understand threats and mitigate the risk. This applies both internally in BT and externally with relevant partners / customers using relevant intelligence models.

This is a home-based role & will require travel for training / occasional team meetings

The role will require a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conduct OSINT research and investigations to identify threats to BT Group people, assets, operations and reputation.
  • Deliver protective intelligence support to Executive Security and Travel Risk teams.
  • Conduct travel risk assessments for executives and employees travelling globally.
  • Monitor social media, digital platforms and open sources for threats, suspicious activity and emerging risks.
  • Produce threat assessments and actionable intelligence products for senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor activist groups, protest movements, criminal networks and other threat actors that may impact BT operations.
  • Deliver horizon-scanning and strategic threat assessments.
  • Support incident response and investigations through intelligence collection and analysis.
  • Maintain awareness of geopolitical, societal and criminal developments that may affect BT Group.
  • Support intelligence-sharing initiatives and collaborative investigations.
  • Represent BT Group in relevant intelligence and security forums.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Experience conducting Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) investigations.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to produce concise intelligence reports and executive briefings.
  • Knowledge of threat assessment methodologies.
  • Excellent written communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of geopolitics and global risk trends.
  • Have an investigative mindset, showcasing curiosity & ability to challenge information when needed.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience supporting executive protection or protective intelligence programmes.
  • Experience of travel risk management.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications, infrastructure or retail security threats.
  • Experience working with law enforcement, intelligence or security functions.
  • Intelligence qualification or equivalent professional experience.
