Job Title: Security Lead (Head of Security)

Location: London (hybrid working – 2/3 days)

Vetting: SC/DV security clearance or eligible for vetting
The Security Lead (Head of Security) provides strategic leadership, assurance authority and security by design guidance for the overall Programme (not just IT security), ensuring all platform, infrastructure, prototype and operational elements meet SECRET level requirements. The role leads accreditation, governance, policy, risk management, cloud security alignment, cross-government engagement and secure transition from legacy platform.

Essential Skills
Security Leadership in Government / National Security
- Experience leading security for SECRET or TOP SECRET programmes.
- Understanding of sovereign cloud and high-assurance design.
Accreditation & Assurance Expertise
- Experience delivering accreditation for complex platforms.
- Knowledge of government assurance frameworks.
Cloud, Platform & Infrastructure Security
- Experience with cloud security, IAM, gateways and cryptography.
- Understanding secure developer enablement.
Cross-Government & Multi-Agency Security

- Experience engaging Defence, Law Enforcement, NCSC and UKIC.
- Knowledge of interoperability challenges across classifications.
Risk Management & Threat Expertise
- Strong grasp of national-security threat models.
- Experience mitigating risks in classified environments.
Leadership & Communication
- Ability to communicate complex security topics clearly.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to lead and embed secure working practices within a multidisciplinary programme team.
- Experience in promoting and maintaining a strong security culture within project teams.
