Security Manager
Location: Segensworth, Hampshire
At Kraken Technology Group, we're developing advanced autonomous and maritime technologies that support critical defence and security missions. As our Security Manager, you'll play a vital role in protecting our people, information, facilities and programmes, ensuring security remains embedded in everything we do.
Reporting to the IT & Security Director, you will lead the delivery of personnel, physical, information and facility security across the business. Acting as the focal point for all security matters, you'll ensure compliance with government, customer and industry requirements while providing practical security guidance that enables business growth.
What you'll be doing:
As Security Manager, you'll be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining security processes and controls across the organisation. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, customers and government authorities to ensure security requirements are met and maintained throughout the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and enforcing compliance with security policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, including Government and defence-sector standards.
- Acting as the focal point for personnel, physical, information and facility security matters across the business.
- Managing personnel security processes, including security clearances, vetting activities and employee lifecycle security requirements.
- Supporting audits, inspections and security assessments conducted by customers, government bodies and contracting authorities.
- Developing and delivering security policies, procedures, awareness campaigns and mandatory training programmes.
- Overseeing physical security systems and controls, including CCTV, intruder detection systems, access control and visitor management processes.
- Managing the protection, handling and control of classified, sensitive and commercially confidential information.
- Investigating security incidents, breaches and emerging threats, ensuring appropriate actions and reporting requirements are completed.
- Working closely with IT, Cyber Security and operational teams to protect systems, facilities and information assets.
- Providing security advice and assurance to business projects, customer programmes, bids and strategic initiatives.
- Supporting business growth by ensuring security considerations are incorporated into new opportunities from the outset.

Leadership Responsibilities:
In addition to managing security operations, you'll provide leadership and direction to the security function, creating a high-performing and collaborative team environment. This includes:
- Leading, mentoring and supporting direct reports.
- Conducting regular one-to-one meetings, coaching and development discussions.
- Setting objectives and performance expectations aligned with business priorities.
- Managing capability, conduct and attendance matters where required.
- Promoting employee wellbeing and maintaining clear communication across the team.
- Encouraging accountability, continuous improvement and professional development.
- Ensuring people-management activities are delivered in line with company policies and employment legislation.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for an experienced security professional who can balance operational delivery, regulatory compliance and strategic support in a growing defence technology environment. You'll ideally have:
- Significant experience within industrial security, defence, government or similarly regulated environments.
- A strong understanding of personnel, physical and information security principles.
- Experience managing security clearance and vetting processes.
- Knowledge of security governance, compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing physical security controls, including CCTV, access control and alarm systems.
- The ability to conduct risk assessments and implement proportionate mitigation measures.
- Experience managing classified information, secure facilities and security systems.
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High levels of integrity, discretion and professionalism.

Essential Requirements:
- Eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance.
- Ability to handle sensitive and classified information appropriately.
- Willingness to work closely with customers, government stakeholders and internal teams to support security compliance requirements.
