Job Purpose

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Security Manager to oversee and own the operational delivery, training, compliance, and business continuity of our manned guarding contract at Aldgate House. The role will provide strong leadership to the security team, ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming environment for employees, visitors and contractors while maintaining consistently high standards of service.

A key part of this role will be to lead, develop and motivate the security team, creating a culture of professionalism, accountability and continuous improvement. The Security Manager will ensure officers are appropriately trained, supported and developed to deliver a consistently high standard of security and customer service.

The role will primarily operate during regular business hours, flexibility to work outside these hours will be required where operational needs dictate. Act as the security lead during significant incidents, providing clear direction, coordinating the security team and ensuring appropriate resources are deployed to protect people, property and business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operational

  • To have full responsibility for the day-to-day security operations for the manned guarding contract at Aldgate House, ensuring the highest standards of customer-focused service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain up to date effective risk assessments, security procedures, assignment instructions and emergency response plans.
  • Oversee security provisions on site including access control, CCTV and key management.
  • Address operational challenges to minimize disruption to site-based operations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance with health and safety, security regulations, and company policies.
  • Ensure all security operations adhere to relevant legislation, industry standards, and client-specific requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation providing frequent operational updates to the ops team and client.

Incident, Emergency & Business Continuity

  • Take an active role in the management of emergency situations, ensuring the security team understands their responsibilities during fire alarms, evacuations, major incidents and other building emergencies.
  • Ensure appropriate escalation, communication and reporting of security incidents.
  • Coordinate with emergency services when required during significant incidents or emergencies.
  • Review incidents and identify opportunities for improvement to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Carry out regular emergency exercises, drills and scenario testing to assess the effectiveness and readiness of the security operation on site.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, addressing their needs and ensuring satisfaction with the security services provided.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring open communication and effective collaboration.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, services partners and community groups.
  • Carry out monthly KPI meetings with the client, identifying key areas for improvement and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the company, consistently demonstrating its values of Trust, Respect, Inclusivity and Partnership.

Resource Management

  • Ensure effective resource planning and deployment to meet the operational demands of the contract.
  • Manage the on-site schedule through the use of Timegate and ensure accurate reflection of hours worked, overtime and approved additional hours.
  • Manage and resolve any last-minute staffing shortfalls, including arranging and coordinating ad-hoc cover.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained to meet contractual and operational requirements.
  • Run reports to ensure accurate pay is reflected within Timegate and escalate any pay disparities to the correct department.

Leadership, Training & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Security Officers, maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Carry out one to one’s with the security inside and out of normal working hours to support welfare, performance, development and engagement.
  • Monitor and manage team attendance, punctuality and timekeeping, ensuring agreed working patterns and attendance standards are consistently maintained.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and work closely with the operations team and people and culture team where appropriate to support effective attendance management. Whilst maintaining appropriate consideration for employee's welfare and individual circumstances.
  • Ensure all security personnel are licensed and fully compliant with industry standards and regulations.
  • Identify training needs and provide continuous professional development opportunities to maintain a high-performing team.
