Job Description

About the Role

Lead in the role of managing the security aspects for a key Defence project with duties including the drafting of Security Aspect Letters, completion of Cyber Risk Assessments, identification of security risks/sensitivities and implementation of effective mitigation. This will include supporting integration with internal project stakeholder groups as well as external customer and supplier stakeholder groups. This role will include the requirements for the authorship and development of Security related documentation in support of our project.

Tasks

  • Join a high-profile defence programme, providing expert security guidance to ensure compliance, manage risk, and protect sensitive information throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 🛡️ Develop and maintain security documentation, including Security Aspect Letters (SALs) and Security Management Plans
  • 🔍 Conduct cyber risk assessments, supplier assurance activities, and compliance reviews
  • 🤝 Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and security stakeholders across complex defence programmes
  • ⚠️ Identify security risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
  • 📋 Support Secure by Design principles and information assurance activities
  • 🌍 Manage the secure release of information to third parties and overseas suppliers
  • ✅ Ensure compliance with GDPR, JSP 440, JSP 628, and other relevant security policies and standards

Qualifications

Experience

Essential:

  • Working knowledge of JSP 440, GovS007 and the HMG Security Policy Framework.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and record-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience of the HMNB Clyde environment.
  • Experience working with Contractors and supply chain compliance with a secure environment.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus and Secure by Design Principles.

Qualifications & Training

Essential:

  • SC clearance with ability to upgrade to DV.
  • Demonstratable suitable qualification and experience relating to Security Management.

Desirable:

  • Chartered member of an appropriate professional body.
