We are seeking an experienced and accomplished Security Manager
We are seeking an experienced and accomplished Security Manager to provide strategic leadership and operational direction across a highly secure facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of security, resilience and operational excellence, while leading a professional security function.
This is a position of significant responsibility, requiring someone who can lead from the front, make sound decisions under pressure and build strong working relationships with both security teams and senior client representatives.
You will be responsible for the effective management of the on-site security team, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism, compliance and service delivery are maintained at all times.
Due to the nature and location of this role, the successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate police vetting clearance. As part of the vetting process, family members and other relevant connections may also be subject to police vetting checks, in accordance with the requirements of the police organisation. Candidates must therefore be willing and eligible to undergo the required security vetting process before appointment.
Location: Winsford
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Contract: Monday – Friday 50 hours per week
The Role
As Security Manager, you will be the key point of contact for security matters on site. You'll lead and support a professional team, ensuring contractual requirements, client expectations and company procedures are consistently met.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensure that all duties are carried out by you and your team by the site-specific assignment instructions.
- To provide regular foot patrols within defined areas as an effective deterrent in the protection of the client’s property and assets.
- To effectively control access to the client’s premises, examine documentation to ascertain the authenticity and authority to gain access.
- To provide monitoring functions to CCTV and alarm functions, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed. To be aware of the operation of those functions and to respond as required.
- To submit detailed reports on the discovery of issues relating to health and safety and crime to the relevant authority either verbally or in report form as required.
- In line with company policy to carry out routine search procedures in a sensitive manner to include vehicles, buildings and persons.
- To effectively deal with all incidents falling within the security remit. To effectively report all incidents to the relevant authority.
- Ensure that the building is locked/unlocked in a timely and efficient manner.
- To provide a point of contact and information centre to staff and visitors.
- To deal with the sorting/collecting of mail and that dealing with goods in/out is done by the site-specific Assignment Instructions.
- To maintain a log of all visitors, incidents and any other records that may be required by the client.
- To maintain the client's key safe to issue and record all movements of keys within the client's premises.
- To identify suspicious persons and actions and report such circumstances.
- To undertake other related duties as may be required after consultation with the Security Manager or other appropriate Manager in line with the specific site requirements.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for a security professional who combines strong leadership with a hands-on approach.
You will be confident managing people, dealing with incidents and making decisions in a demanding environment. You'll need excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with police personnel, clients, colleagues and members of the public.
Essential
- Current SIA licence.
- Proven experience within the security industry, public sector, police environment and/or armed forces.
- Proven experience of managing and leading security personnel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Sound knowledge of security best practice and relevant security legislation.
- Strong judgement and decision-making skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Ability to remain calm and take control during incidents and emergencies.
- Ability to influence, negotiate and engage effectively with others.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required level of police vetting clearance.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a police, government or other highly secure/public-sector environment.
- Experience of writing procedures and operational documentation.
- Experience producing detailed reports and business cases.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Previous experience managing security operations within a complex or high-profile environment.
