Position: Security Officer (Days/Nights)
Location: West Ham Bus Garage
Pay Rate: £14.80 per hour
Hours: Average 42 hours per week, Overtime available
Shift Pattern: 4 On / 4 Off Rolling Roster
This role operates on a 4 on / 4 off rolling shift pattern. Candidates must be flexible and able to work days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays as part of the roster and when operationally required.
Licence Requirements
Valid SIA DS/SG Licence and CCTV Licence (or currently undertaking CCTV training) are mandatory.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Security Officer to join the Mitie Security team at West Ham Bus Garage.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment, protecting people, property and assets, and ensuring compliance with client and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control access to the site, ensuring only authorised persons and vehicles gain entry.
- Conduct regular security patrols of the bus garage, buildings, yard areas, and perimeter.
- Monitor CCTV, access control systems, alarms, and other security equipment.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, emergencies, and security breaches in accordance with site procedures.
- Complete detailed incident reports and ensure all occurrences are accurately documented.
- Liaise professionally with TfL management, bus operators, contractors, visitors, and emergency services.
- Ensure Assignment Instructions, SOPs, and Health & Safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Investigate and report security incidents, defects, hazards, and breaches of procedure.
- Support emergency evacuations, fire alarm activations, and business continuity arrangements.
- Monitor contractor activity and ensure compliance with site access requirements.
- Report maintenance, security, and safety faults through the appropriate channels.
- Maintain accurate records, patrol logs, and shift documentation.
- Escalate operational issues promptly to the Supervisor, Duty Manager, or Management Team.
- Provide a professional and customer-focused service at all times.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by management in support of the contract.

Essential Requirements
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding and CCTV Licence (or currently undertaking CCTV training).
- Previous experience within the security industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong report-writing and incident-management abilities.
- Good knowledge of access control, CCTV, and site security operations.
- Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Flexible approach to working hours and operational requirements.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within a transport, depot, or critical infrastructure environment.
- First Aid qualification.
- Knowledge of TfL security procedures and standards.
