Location: White Rose Shopping Centre, Leeds

Position: Security Officer

Contract Type: Full-Time

Hours: 4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts

Mitie is one of the UK's leading facilities management and security service providers, delivering exceptional security solutions across a wide range of sectors. We are currently recruiting for a Security Officer to join our professional team at the White Rose Shopping Centre, Leeds.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of Yorkshire's premier retail destinations, helping to provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for customers, retailers, contractors, and colleagues.

As a Security Officer, you will play a vital role in protecting people, property, and assets while delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Security & Customer Service

  • Provide a visible and professional security presence throughout the shopping centre.
  • Carry out patrols of the centre, service areas, and external locations.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers, tenants, visitors, and staff.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and assist visitors with enquiries.
  • Support retailers and business partners by responding to incidents and concerns promptly.
  • Act as an ambassador for White Rose Shopping Centre and Mitie.

Incident Management

  • Respond effectively to security incidents, emergencies, and alarm activations.
  • Accurately record incidents and complete all reports and notebook entries.
  • Escalate incidents appropriately and liaise with management, emergency services, and the Mitie Communications Centre when required.
  • Preserve evidence and support investigations where necessary.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, and security risks.
  • Ensure compliance with Assignment Instructions, company policies, and legal requirements.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and emergency response plans.
  • Complete scheduled welfare checks, check calls, and operational tasks as required.

Professional Development

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience within a security role.
  • Valid SIA Security Door Supervisor Licence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A flexible and reliable approach to working shifts.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working in a retail, shopping centre, or customer-facing environment.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • CCTV Licence
