We’re Hiring: Security Officer
📍 Location: Ferndown, BH21 7SQ
💰 Salary: £34,000 per annum
🕒 Hours: 54 hours per week
Shift Pattern
- Saturday & Sunday: 08:00 - 20:00
- Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday: 21:30 - 07:30
Grade: 3.1 Site Based

To provide a professional Security Officer service at a leading UK engineering facility specialising in safety-critical nuclear instrumentation, reactor protection systems, radiation monitoring, and high-tech components for the aerospace, defence, naval, and power sectors. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for protecting employees, property, and other assets in line with Assignment Instructions and customer requirements.
The Security Officer will carry out access control, patrols, incident response, and security monitoring while maintaining the highest standards of customer service. All duties must be performed in accordance with Securitas' core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness, ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times. A valid SIA licence must be obtained before commencing operational shifts.
Responsibilities
Job Description
You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:
Protection of Property and Premises
- Monitor access control, CCTV, fire and intruder alarms.
- Conduct regular internal and external patrols.
- Manage keys, locking/unlocking duties, and visitor passes.
- Complete security checks, reports, and site records.
- Ensure all security equipment is used and maintained correctly.
Health and Safety
- Support staff, visitors, and contractors while maintaining a safe environment.
- Follow and report on health and safety procedures, hazards, and incidents.
- Keep walkways and emergency exits clear at all times.
- Report First Aid equipment usage and shortages.
- Respond to emergencies, notify the SOC, and investigate alarm activations as required.

Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who sees a different world—someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have:
- ✅ Valid SIA Licence
- ✅ UK National Only
- ✅ BPSS Clearance required
- ✅ Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends
- ✅ Right to work in the UK with a 5-year checkable history
- ✅ British nationality and UK residency for the past 5 years (site requirement)
- ✅ Strong written and spoken English communication skills
