Core Security Officer/Host

Based: MK15

Reporting to: Security Manager/Supervisors

Hours: Monday - Friday. Average of 60hrs per week

Rate: £13.45

Objective

To provide a professional, welcoming and security-focused front of house service for staff, tenants, clients, visitors and service partners. The postholder will protect people, premises, property and information while delivering an excellent customer journey, maintaining access control and responding calmly and effectively to incidents, enquiries and operational requirements.

Duties

Customer Service and Front of House

  • Welcome staff, tenants, clients and visitors warmly and courteously, maintaining service excellence throughout their journey.
  • Offer assistance, provide clear directions and respond to requests promptly and professionally.
  • Develop positive working relationships with clients, tenants, colleagues, visitors and service providers.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of the premises and the local area, including transport links and nearby services.
  • Promote the client, tenants, service partners and the company positively at every point of contact.

Security, Access and Incident Management

  • Control access and egress and prevent unauthorised entry, including supporting other security positions when required.
  • Operate access control, CCTV, communications and other electronic management systems appropriately and in accordance with site instructions.
  • Manage and external agencies (Emergency Services, CTSA, Enforcement Officers and ensure that appropriate processes are followed in accordance with Client and Site Instructions
  • Remain alert to current and relevant security threats; identify and mitigate threats to people, premises or property and escalate promptly where appropriate.
  • Accurately record and report incidents, observations and actions to the relevant manager, controller, supervisor or client representative.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and protect personal, client, tenant and company information.

Emergency, Safety and Compliance

  • Be familiar with site security and emergency procedures and assist with their safe implementation, testing and practice.
  • Follow Assignment Instructions, the Operations Manual, Standard Operating Procedures and all company policies and codes of conduct.
  • Comply with health, safety and environmental procedures, SIA requirements, relevant regulations and applicable security standards, including BS 7858 where required.
  • Act safely, ethically and with integrity, and do not undertake any activity that may breach licensing, legal or contractual requirements.
  • Undertake Fire Marshal, First Aid or other role-specific duties following training where applicable

Communication and Teamwork

  • Communicate clearly, courteously and respectfully in person, in writing, by telephone and through other communication channels.
  • Work collaboratively with officers, controllers, supervisors, reception colleagues and wider site teams to maintain security and service integrity.
  • Remain calm, respectful and empathetic when managing conflict, sensitive situations or challenging behaviour.
  • Support the induction, development and ongoing training of new team members where appropriate.

Learning, Standards and Continuous Improvement

  • Complete induction, basic job training, contractual training and any further courses required for the role.
  • Complete rostered duties, reports and documentation accurately, promptly and to the highest possible standard.
  • Maintain professional presentation, attendance, punctuality and conduct.
  • Take ownership of allocated or identified tasks and contribute ideas that improve service quality and add value.

  • Current and valid SIA licence.
  • Previous security reception, concierge or public-facing security experience.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accurate incident reporting and report-writing capability.
  • Computer literacy, including confidence using Microsoft Office and site systems.
  • Reliable, trustworthy and punctual, with a strong record of attendance and timekeeping.
  • Calm and resilient under pressure, with the ability to priorities, multitask and solve problems.
  • Able to follow instructions and work effectively on own initiative.
  • Flexible and adaptable in relation to duties, hours, training and operational requirements.
  • Physically able to undertake the duties associated with the role.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous front of house experience within a high-profile or prestigious building.
  • First Aid at Work qualification, or willingness and ability to complete and maintain the qualification.
  • Fire Marshal training, or willingness to undertake training.
  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
