Role Description

The Security Officer role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Ayr Area. The Security Officer is responsible for protecting people, property, and assets by conducting regular patrols, monitoring access points, and supervising CCTV and other security systems. Daily tasks include managing visitor entry, verifying identification, responding to alarms and incidents, writing accurate incident and shift reports, and escalating issues in line with company procedures. The role involves working closely with clients, colleagues, and emergency services, providing a visible security presence and delivering professional, courteous customer service at all times. Security Officers are expected to follow established risk mitigation and counter-terrorism measures, adhere to relevant legislation and company policies, and participate in ongoing training and briefings to maintain high operational standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in security operations, including site patrolling, access control, and incident response.
  • Strong observation, situational awareness, and risk assessment skills, with the ability to act calmly under pressure.
  • Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and the public and for completing written reports.
  • Customer service mindset, with the ability to de-escalate conflicts and build trust with building users and visitors.
  • Valid SIA license (Security Guarding or Door Supervision) and a demonstrable understanding of relevant UK security legislation and best practices.
  • Basic IT, proficiency with access control systems, and digital reporting tools.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Previous experience in corporate, retail, events, or public-space
