Location: The Harpur Centre, Bedford, MK40 1TJ
Pay: £13.69 per hour
Hours: 42 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Shift Pattern: 5 out of 7 days (Monday to Sunday)
Shift Times: Any time between 06:00 and 00:30
Examples Of Shifts Include
- 06:00 - 15:00
- 08:00 - 17:00
- 12:30 - 22:30
- 15:30 - 00:30
About The Role
Kingdom Group is recruiting for a professional and customer-focused Security Officer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis at The Harpur Centre, Bedford.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a busy retail environment, helping to maintain a safe and secure atmosphere for customers, retailers, contractors, and visitors. You will play a key role in ensuring site security procedures are followed while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular internal and external patrols of the shopping centre
- Monitor CCTV and site security systems where applicable
- Provide a visible security presence throughout the centre
- Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and customer enquiries
- Prevent loss, theft, damage, and anti-social behaviour
- Complete accurate incident reports and site documentation
- Monitor contractor and visitor access procedures
- Liaise with centre management, retailers, and emergency services when required
- Ensure compliance with site procedures, health & safety, and security policies
- Deliver excellent customer service to visitors and tenants

What We're Looking For
- Valid SIA Licence (Essential)
- Previous security experience preferred but not essential
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Professional and reliable approach to work
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Good report writing and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible approach to working shifts, including weekends
