The Barbados High Commission in London informs of the following vacancy: Security Officer.

Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

The Barbados High Commission in London, representing Barbadian political, economic, security, and consular interests overseas, is seeking a Security Officer to provide professional front-of-house reception services for the High Commission, located at 1 Great Russell Street, London (WC1B 3ND).

The successful candidate will oversee and interact with visitors to ensure smooth day-to-day reception operations. The individual will possess strong communication and security skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage processing of visitors to the High Commission
  • Operate and monitor the Visit Management System
  • Conduct internal and external building patrols
  • Monitor CCTV, fire alarms, and emergency systems
  • Assist with high-profile diplomatic and evening events
  • Receive and route items delivered to the High Commission

Essential Skills

  • Quick thinking to handle sudden crises or incidents

  • Security Industry Association (SIA) qualification and First Aid at Work training

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Ability to learn and speak other languages
  • Experience working for a diplomatic mission; experience or knowledge of working in an international environment
  • Prior work in police, military, or investigative roles
  • Hands-on experience in threat assessment or asset protection
