Security Officer (Chesterfield)
Laing O'Rourke, in partnership with Select Security, is recruiting Security Officers to support the construction of a major new substation project near Chesterfield.
We are looking for professional, reliable, and customer-focused individuals to join our team on a long-term basis. Opportunities are available on both day and night shifts, offering stable work and the chance to be part of a high-profile infrastructure project.
About The Role
As a Security Officer, you will play an important role in protecting the project, its people, and its assets, while helping to maintain a safe and secure working environment for everyone on site.
Day Shift Duties
- Managing the gatehouse and site access points.
- Welcoming visitors, contractors, and deliveries.
- Booking visitors onto site and carrying out access control procedures.
- Monitoring vehicle movements and ensuring site security protocols are followed.
- Providing a professional first impression for clients, contractors, and visitors.
Night Shift Duties
- Conducting mobile patrols across remote working areas using a site vehicle.
- Responding to CCTV activations and security incidents.
- Carrying out regular security inspections and site patrols.
- Monitoring vulnerable areas and reporting any suspicious activity.
- Ensuring the site remains secure outside of operational hours.

What We Offer

What We're Looking For
- A valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding, Door Supervisor, or Close Protection).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Previous experience in security, construction site security, mobile patrols, or gatehouse operations is desirable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A professional and confident approach when dealing with clients, contractors, and members of the public.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider project team.
- Good judgement, integrity, and a strong awareness of safety and security.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of responsibilities.
