The role

Carlisle Support Services is looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and dedicated individuals to join our team, working with our prestigious clients. Location: Liverpool, L21 1LA

Hours: 4 on 4 off (7am-7pm)

Pay: £13.47 per hour

Your Duties Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Providing a professional, visible and proactive security presence across the port.
  • Conducting vehicle searches, primarily HGVs, including inspections of driver cabs, trailers, cargo areas, vehicle undercarriages, boots and other compartments as required.
  • Conducting driver and visitor searches in accordance with site procedures and security requirements.
  • Verifying passes, permits, accreditation and identification to ensure individuals are authorised and operating within the correct areas of the port.
  • Controlling access and egress points, ensuring authorised entry and exit of people and vehicles.
  • Conducting security patrols throughout the port, including operational areas with moving vehicles, plant machinery, maritime equipment and vessels.
  • Monitoring for security breaches, hazards, suspicious activity and safety concerns, responding appropriately and escalating when required.
  • Working closely with Port Police, Border Force and other key stakeholders to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Providing guidance and assistance to drivers, visitors, contractors and employees as a first point of contact.
  • Managing incidents professionally and effectively, maintaining control during conflict situations.
  • Following all security, safety and operational procedures at all times.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a wider security team and building positive working relationships across the port.

The ideal candidate

  • Must be at least 18 years of age (legal requirement for front-line licensable activity).
  • Hold a valid SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervisor Licence.
  • Ability to provide a 5-year checkable work and address history.
  • Willingness to complete the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code Course as part of the induction process prior to commencing duties (mandatory requirement).
  • Comfortable conducting vehicle, trailer, cab and personnel searches.
  • Comfortable working in a busy operational port environment, including around moving vehicles, plant machinery and maritime equipment.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions throughout the year.
  • Reliable, punctual, flexible and professional in appearance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with incidents professionally.
  • Capable of following detailed security processes and procedures.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
