Security Officer
Location: BMW Summit One Farnborough
Pay Rate: £14.64
Hours: 12-hour shifts (days/nights/weekends), based on a 4on 4off days and nights rotation, average 42 hours per week plus overtime opportunities.

At Mitie, we're offering an exciting opportunity to join our Security Team at the HQ of BMW UK.
This is far more than a standard security position as the location is one of the most prestigious facilities within the BMW Account. There are 24 Business entities registered with Company House based out of the Summit One Campus.
Skills
Being a member of the Security Team is one of the most important functions at this site, the Security Officer needs to well-presented to a high standard has they will be the initial point of contact to Staff, Visitors & Contractors (all of which are our customers) at Summit One. Therefore, the professionalism competence and experience of the operative must be of a premium level, in common with other functions, the service delivery here must be focused on the Key deliverables and appropriate to BMW business support needs. Additionally, the need for skills of client communication, politeness, and professionalism and a high standard of personal turnout and soft skills pertinent to client interface in a business environment is important due to the daily dealings with many visitors to the site, and with many senior and other stakeholders across the site. Key duties include:
- From day one, you will be part of a professional team equipped with the knowledge and confidence to handle critical incidents and protect people, property, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Security needs to be familiar with the site layout in order to assist with customer direction, guidance, functions, business areas of operations and key personalities onsite in order to confidently converse with visitors to site.
- Engage in site wide familiarisation to enable directional information to visitors, deliveries and contractors alike when onsite, conduct patrolling with Merlin System.
- To receive and provide a friendly welcome and departure to all staff and visitors entering the Campus.
- To ensure that all staff and contractors arriving have a valid identification card and are processed in and out in accordance with the BMW Security policy.
- To warmly receive visitors, identify the purpose of their visit and liaise with the appropriate personnel as necessary, ensuring they are familiar with site rules, policies and procedures.
- To work alongside the Security team in managing all aspects of site security.
- To remain calm, vigilant and efficient at all time.
- Ensure that the supplied business wear is always worn in a smart, tidy, clean and presentable at all time.
- Become familiar with site emergency and evacuation procedures and processes.
- When required to provide additional stand in cover for the receptionist for break relief and for the wider security team.
- To effectively assist with a wide range of enquires and requests from staff, customers and contractors. Support the security team in responding to appropriate incidents in line with the agreed KIP's & SLA's.
- Conduct general administrate duties in line with the KIP's & SLA's.

CUSTOMER CARE
- Display an outstanding level of customer focus and understand the reasons for it.
- Enforce access and egress procedures stated within the Assignment Instructions and BMW Standard Operating Procedures in a polite but assertive manner.
- To understand and provide appropriate solutions or escalate problems encountered by customer employees or visitors.
- Ability to recognize conflict situations and inform the Security department.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Display the highest standard of personal presentation to maintain the image of both BMW UK and Mitie.
EMERGENCIES
- To assist as instructed by appointed persons in any incident that might impact on the customer's business.
- Fully understand and be able to carry out the role required in emergency situations.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- To report to the Security Site Based Team Leader all faults, perceived Health and Safety hazards and unsafe working practices through the Near Miss reporting process.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety issues in accordance with customers approved procedures and Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
FIRST AID
- To respond as required to calls for assistance for First Aid and administer treatment, summon medical help as appropriate if required.
- Check First Aid Boxes and report deficiencies to the appropriate nominated persons.
Secondary Responsibilities
- To engage in any other activities as requested by the Site Based Team Leader or reasonable request by the Customer.
