Company Description

We're Hiring: Security Officer

📍 Location: Plymouth, Devon, PL6 7BP

💰 Pay Rate: £13.60 per hour

📅 Shift Pattern: 6 on, 3 off | 12-hour night shifts

3.1 site based

Join a global medical technology company founded in 1897 and headquartered in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. As a Security Officer, you will protect employees, property, and assets while delivering exceptional customer service. The Security Officer will uphold Securitas' core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness, maintaining a safe and secure environment at all times. The successful Security Officer must hold, or be working towards obtaining, a valid SIA Licence and be committed to providing a professional security service.

Job Description

Responsibilities

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

Protection of Property and Premises

  • Prevent unauthorised access and monitor CCTV, fire alarms, and intruder alarms.
  • Conduct internal and external security patrols.
  • Control site access and enforce parking restrictions.
  • Manage keys, access passes, and site security equipment.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports.
  • Handle lost property in line with site procedures.

Health and Safety

  • Support staff, visitors, and contractors while maintaining a safe environment.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed and report hazards or incidents.
  • Keep walkways and emergency exits clear at all times.
  • Report First Aid equipment shortages and site safety concerns.
  • Respond to emergencies and follow SOC instructions.
  • Investigate and report fire alarm activations.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who sees a different world—someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have:

Essential

  • Valid SIA Licence.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to transport.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Five-year checkable employment, education, and/or other documented history.
  • No current criminal convictions.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing to work days, nights, and weekend shifts.

Desirable

  • Previous Security Officer experience.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Ability to demonstrate the core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness.
