Purpose of the Role
To support the safe, secure and efficient operation of the shopping Centre and respond decisively to all emergency situations. The role provides a strong, highly visible security presence throughout the Centre and requires regular scheduled and ad hoc patrols of the mall, service corridors, perimeter and car park using the Timegate patrol system. Responsibilities also include securely opening and locking the Centre and car park in accordance with site procedures, checking access points and reporting any faults, hazards or security concerns immediately. The role further involves handling enquiries and customer concerns professionally, monitoring CCTV by suitably trained and licensed staff, and controlling contractors and deliveries to the Centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain unwavering adherence to all contracted working hours and shift patterns in accordance with the conditions of employment.
- Conduct thorough, highly visible patrols of the Centre as directed by Centre Management.
- Execute all duties decisively and precisely in full accordance with instructions issued by Centre Management.
- Maintain absolute compliance with the Centre’s Health & Safety Policy at all times.
- Take full individual responsibility for ensuring strict compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, company policy and all site procedures.
- Enforce and uphold the Centre’s Rules & Regulations without exception at all times.
- Immediately report every incident to Control, ensuring it is formally and accurately recorded in the Incident Log; promptly follow all directions issued by the Control Room, including completing scheduled and ad hoc patrols using the Timegate patrol system, and activate the body-worn camera during all interactions.
- Rigorously ensure that every contractor arriving on site fully complies with all contractor-management and site Health & Safety requirements, company policy and site procedures.
- Proactively maintain the Centre as a consistently safe, secure and welcoming environment.
- Respond promptly, confidently and professionally to enquiries from members of the public whenever required.
- Demonstrate complete awareness of, and uncompromising adherence to, all company rules, terms and conditions.
- Build and sustain strong, professional and collaborative working relationships with all tenants.
- Take decisive ownership of incidents and conflicts, applying sound judgement, approved procedures and effective de-escalation techniques while delivering calm, professional and exceptional customer service throughout.
- Maintain full statutory compliance with the Security Industry Act 2001 by holding an SIA Public Space Surveillance Licence and, where necessary, a valid SIA Security Licence.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Confident command of radio and body-worn camera operation, supported by professional radio etiquette and accurate use of the phonetic alphabet.
- Proven experience delivering effective security services in a busy public-facing environment.
- In full compliance with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold a valid SIA Security Licence and, where necessary, a Public Space Surveillance CCTV Licence.
- Consistently delivers exceptional standards of customer service.
- Demonstrates sound judgement, initiative and resilience when managing demanding situations independently.
- Upholds the highest standards of honesty, integrity and reliability.
- Fully committed to completing on-site training in emergency procedures.
- Outstanding organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrates exceptional flexibility and readiness to work varied patterns, including weekends and evenings, whenever required.
- Strong commitment to continuous professional training and career development.
- Maintains an impeccably professional appearance at all times.
- Produces accurate, comprehensive records with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven expertise in conflict management and the effective securement of the Centre.

Required
- Valid SIA Security/DS License & CCTV License.
Desirable
- Demonstrable operational experience within a fast-paced retail shopping centre environment, with a strong understanding of frontline security demands.
- Confident and proficient use of the full Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Sound working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, supported by an IOSH qualification.
- Successfully completed Fire Marshal training, with the confidence to act decisively during fire-related incidents and evacuations.
- Holds a valid First Aid at Work qualification, with the capability to provide an immediate and effective response to workplace injuries and medical emergencies.
Working Hours
- Nights - 42 hours/week - 4 on 4 off rolling shift pattern.
Salary
- Hourly rate: £13.47
- Annual Salary: £29,419
