Salary: Circa £34,000

Location: DPD Hinckley Hub 4

Days of Work: Monday to Friday

Hours of Work: 07:00 - 17:00

Job Description

Our General Manager Security Central is looking to recruit an experienced Security Officer to join their highly skilled team.

Effective security plays a vital role within the DPD UK Operation, given the nature of our business and our commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Security within the business also extends to the requirement to ensure that our employees and property are safeguarded at all times.

Key Duties and Accountabilities will include;

  • Ensuring safety and security of our building and assets by carrying out all duties in full adherence of site Assignment Instructions, Daily KPI’s and daily Security job cards.
  • Writing complete and accurate Incident Reports and taking appropriate action as required on all reports.
  • Claim Reduction - Investigate missing packages via CCTV & the DPD Internal Tracking system in order to determine area of concern/loss.
  • Working as part of a team to deliver excellent security and customer service.
  • Coordinating activities between contractors, employees and visitors.
  • Liaising with emergency services and other third-party organisations.
  • Conducting periodic testing of Fire Alarm, CCTV systems, Door Access and Shutter Security.
  • Monitoring CCTV, Access Control System, and thermal monitoring systems.
  • Uploading and maintaining Facial Recognition system on a daily basis.
  • Conducting Vehicle Gatehouse duties.
  • Answering calls and supporting the DPD Security Supervisor with any requested duties / tasks.
  • Managing an airport style search area, completing full searches of all staff and visitors as they leave the building.
  • Targeted searches of staff and trailers within the hub.
  • Internal & external foot patrols.
  • Incident support and management.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

As the successful candidate, previous security experience would be preferred but training will be provided. We would welcome applications from candidates with armed forces, prison service or police experience.

Being a confident IT user is critical in this role as some of the IT systems you will be using will include; CCTV, Online Visitor Booking system, facial recognition plus the creation and completion of written reports. Use of Google docs, Google sheets, Google slides and any other innovation.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical to succeed in this role as are excellent interpersonal skills as you will be dealing with members of the public, staff and visitors on a daily basis. You will be someone with a responsible and trustworthy attitude who takes pride in your day to day work.

  • The ability to use initiative and follow procedures and guidelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A professional appearance and attitude at times.
  • Flexibility towards working hours as working hours are varied to support operational needs.
  • Flexibility towards working between the three East Midlands Hub facilities.
  • Proactive and supportive team player.
