Summary Of Position

The Security Officer plays a vital role in safeguarding hotel assets, ensuring the safety of employees, guests, and maintaining a secure environment. This position involves active engagement with team members and guests to perform various security tasks, including property patrols, guest assistance, alarm monitoring, and emergency response.

Security Manager and Security Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

Safety and Security

  • Uphold the hotel’s safety policies to maintain a secure environment.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, including evacuations and medical emergencies.
  • Report any work-related injuries or accidents immediately.
  • Identify and address unsafe conditions, escalating concerns to management when necessary.
  • Complete required safety training and certifications.

Policies and Procedures

  • Safeguard the privacy of guests and team members.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and company assets.
  • Adhere to all company policies and professional appearance standards.

Guest Relations

  • Provide outstanding service by addressing guest needs in a friendly and timely manner.
  • Assist guests with disabilities by offering necessary support and resources.
  • Welcome each guest warmly, using their name whenever possible, and express gratitude during farewells.

Communication

  • Prepare and review written reports and logs for accuracy.
  • Use clear and professional language when communicating with guests and coworkers.
  • Utilize electronic communication tools effectively to share information.

Team Collaboration

  • Handle sensitive situations with respect and discretion.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues across departments.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals and enhance the guest experience.

Physical Responsibilities

  • Be prepared to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
  • Perform light lifting tasks as necessary.

Surveillance and Patrol

  • Conduct regular patrols of the property.
  • Monitor CCTV and alarm systems to detect and respond to unusual activity.
  • Lock property entrances as scheduled and conduct hazard inspections daily.

Incident and Emergency Response

  • Assess the need for emergency medical assistance and provide first aid/CPR as required.
  • Support guests and employees during various emergency scenarios.
  • Document incidents thoroughly, following company protocols.
  • Manage disturbances and ensure a peaceful environment.
  • Escort unwelcomed individuals off the property with minimal disruption.

Investigations and Reporting

  • Maintain detailed activity logs, incident and accident reports, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Investigate incidents such as theft or disturbances, gathering relevant evidence.
  • Investigate accidents such as where, when, and gathering relevant evidence.
  • Interview involved parties to compile comprehensive accounts of incidents.

Essential skills and experience (must-have):

  • SIA Door Supervisor or Close Protection
  • First Aid Qualification
  • DSO experience in a 5 star Hotel environment
  • Teamwork
  • Days and nights schedule/work pattern

Preferred skills and experience (nice-to-have):

  • CCTV SIA licence
  • Vingcard key system knowledge
  • Fire Marshal qualification

Is luxury hospitality experience required?
