Job Title: Security Officer

Location: W6 8PW

Rate: £13.97ph

Contracted Hours: 60hrs per week (10am - 10pm) Monday - Friday

Role:

Working within this flagship building and prestigious environment in central Hammersmith your primary role is to ensure the security of people, premises and property, protecting the reputation of the client/tenants throughout.

You will support the delivery of a truly exceptional customer journey for both staff and visitors. To achieve this, you will be/become well versed in the processes and practices of a Security professional. Excellence in customer service will be at the heart of the role. You will be part of a well drilled security operation.

To ensure synergy across our service providers, we work with a 'one team' approach to successfully deliver an excellent customer journey so in this role you will work closely with catering, cleaning, maintenance and Front of House teams in order to provide an environment which is welcoming and relaxed yet safe and secure at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service to staff and visitors
  • Take an active interest in, and give commitment to the client and tenants
  • Ensure that the environment and service is truly excellent and beyond expectation
  • Promote the client, tenants other service providers positively to all you come in to contact with, throughout the customer journey
  • Be flexible and adaptable to all tasks or challenges
  • Be highly presentable, accountable; take responsibility and ownership for any tasks identified or allocated
  • Ensure all contact, be it internal or external; by telephone, face to face or any other medium; is clear, courteous, polite, professional and respectful
  • Ensure complete client/tenant/other service provider confidentiality; protecting people and information is paramount
  • Appropriate use of CCTV/access control and any other electronic management system, and completion of reports and documentation in a timely fashion
  • Be familiar with all Security and Emergency procedures on site and assist in the facilitation of their safe execution and practice. There may also be a need to become a fire marshal and first aider if applicable all training will be provided
  • All Assignment Instructions / Operations Manual or Standard Operating Procedures are to be reviewed, understood and followed
  • Embrace and deliver the bespoke training requirements, specific to contractual obligation or regulation
  • Completion of rostered duties and all associated tasks or responsibilities to the highest possible standard
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety and Environmental procedures are followed and do not undertake any activity which could breach the SIA or other relevant regulations
  • To complete any other reasonable task as instructed by your line manager or other Senior Manager, either UniTrust or at the request of the Client and/or tenants
  • To support internal and external audit processes from UniTrust Security representatives, Client/Tenant Representatives, the SIA, any other relevant body with a relevant interest and valid reason for inspection or compliance checks
  • To act with integrity and in the best interests of the company in a safe, compliant and ethical manner
  • To be resilient to working in the most sensitive environments, dealing with any conflict with a respectful and empathic approach at all times
  • Be prepared to manage a wide variety and diversity of scenarios, people and challenges
  • Assist in the induction, development or ongoing training of new team members across the disciplines where appropriate
  • Act in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures and our Code of Conduct

Security Specific Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and assist staff, clients, tenants and visitors to the premises in a warm and courteous fashion maintaining excellence as a standard throughout the customer journey
  • Ensuring that no unauthorised persons are permitted in prohibited areas
  • Check identity and credentials of staff, contractors and visitors where required
  • Work with all colleagues to ensure the integrity of security on the site
  • Early identification and mitigation of any threats to persons, premises or property, escalating where appropriate to do so
  • Rotation on different posts
  • Have an outstanding knowledge of the premises (inside and external) and able to assist staff, clients, tenants and visitors with their queries
  • Direct all deliveries as required (to the Loading Bay)
  • Respond to alarms
  • Key Control
  • Record details of any suspected criminal activity on the premises (internal and external); commencing investigative procedures prior to onward reporting where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with all staff, visitors, tenants, service providers and clients
  • Have good knowledge of the local area to be able to answer queries regarding local transport links or services in the area for example.
  • Providing temporary coverage for the supervisor role during periods of absence, such as illness, leave, or as required, ensuring smooth operations and continuity of leadership.

Essential Skills:

  • Computer literate and confident with the use of Microsoft Office programmes
  • Demonstrate an awareness of security threats which remain relevant and up to date in the context of the current environment
  • Flexibility in regard to working practices, hours and responsibilities.
  • Either a current and valid SIA (DS as a minimum) license OR with a view to obtaining an SIA licence if not already held.
  • Enhanced communication, listening and customer service skills or the ability to train, obtain, retain and develop further in this field.
  • First Aid at work or the ability to train and retain this qualification
  • Operation of CCTV/access control communications in an appropriate manner

Desirable Skills:

  • Exposure to relevant Protective Security or Counter Terrorism Advice
  • Previous experience of the security industry and / or within the hospitality sector or corporate environment with a view to obtaining an SIA licence if not already held.
  • Previous experience in technologies to detect security threats in any given environment
