We’re Hiring: Security Officer

📍 Location: Winchester

💷 Pay: £13.45 per hour

🕒 Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off (Nights)

⏰ Hours: 42 hours per week

Join a major research and development laboratory near Winchester, Hampshire. As a Security Officer, you will provide a professional security service to protect employees, visitors, property, and assets while delivering excellent customer service. The Security Officer will ensure compliance with site procedures and customer requirements, maintaining the highest standards of integrity, vigilance, and professionalism. A Security Officer plays a vital role in creating a safe, secure, and efficient working environment.

Job Description

Responsibilities

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

  • Conduct regular internal and external patrols, monitoring CCTV, alarms, and security systems.
  • Control access, manage keys, visitor passes, and lock/unlock procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, fire alarms, and security breaches.
  • Complete accurate records, logs, handovers, and incident reports.
  • Support staff, visitors, and contractors while maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Follow health & safety procedures, report hazards, and assist with emergency evacuations.
  • Assist with traffic management, parking control, and lost property where required.
  • Prevent unauthorised access and protect people, property, and assets at all times.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Valid SIA Licence
  • Minimum 2 years' security experience
  • Full UK Driver's license required.
  • SC Clearance desirable, or ability to obtain it
  • Right to work in the UK with a 5-year checkable work history
  • British nationality and UK residency for the past 5 years (site requirement)
  • Flexible to work days, nights, weekends, and varying shift patterns
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
  • Professional, reliable, and able to remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail and customer service skills
  • Experience working for a global organisation is desirable
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a high-security environment
