Description

We’re looking for a Security Officer to join our Security team, reporting to the Head of Security. This is a proactive role where you’ll play an important part in keeping our staff, students, visitors and College sites safe and secure.

As a Security Officer, you’ll provide a highly visible security presence across the College, helping to prevent unsafe or inappropriate behaviour and responding confidently when incidents arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrolling College premises and monitoring learner behaviour
  • Using radios and body-worn cameras effectively
  • Enforcing College policies and supporting a safe learning environment
  • Managing visitor and contractor access, issuing passes and escorting unauthorised visitors from campus
  • Liaising with duty managers and colleagues when incidents or concerns arise
  • Discussing, mediating and investigating incidents, and producing clear written reports
  • Providing first-responder first aid support when required
  • Reporting unsafe conditions and potential health and safety concerns
  • Supporting the College’s security policies, procedures and search and education policies
  • Maintaining accurate intervention and incident/accident records
  • Keeping your professional training and qualifications up to date, including SIA, first aid and CPI requirements
  • Working flexibly across different College sites and supporting the department in response to business needs

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A current SIA Door Supervisor qualification
  • A Full First Aid at Work Certificate, or willingness to achieve this within six months
  • Recent, relevant experience in a similar security role
  • The ability to produce clear and meaningful incident and accident reports
  • A flexible approach, including the ability to work across sites and participate in the on-call system
  • The physical fitness required to meet the demands of the role and willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical
  • GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above is desirable
