Who We Are

Six Degrees, a Claranet Group Company, is a leading secure, integrated cloud services provider, where everyone is welcome. We believe success lies in harnessing a truly diverse and inclusive culture.

Our business protects UK organisations with the goal of enabling them to operate effectively and securely in the cloud, by giving them secure platforms to innovate and grow. We support our customers on their digital transformation journey regardless of their maturity.

About The Role

The Security Operations Centre (SOC) Analyst – 1st line, forms part of a proactive and reactive cyber security monitoring team, delivering real time triaging, alerting, and reporting to risk adverse clients. Our SOC Analysts delivers 24-hour cyber defence service to risk adverse clients, ensuring compliance, resilience and protection in line with industry best practice and core functions.

You'll be responsible for handling Priority 1 (P1) to Priority 3 (P3) alerts and managing the incidents in line with SOC processes and the operations manual. This is a demanding role, often the most complex incidents take place during night-time requiring the SOC Analyst to handle concurrent challenging time-sensitive issues with limited supervision and direction. Our SOC Analysts are responsible for developing and producing reports which trend and summarise activity based on the threat landscape of the respective client.

Role Requirements

  • Candidates should have a degree in cyber security, computer science, ethical hacking or similar (desirable)
  • Ideally candidates should be COMPTIA Security + or CCNA certified.
  • An interest in wanting to build a career in cyber security.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
