We’re Hiring: SOC Operators

Can you stay calm when someone on the phone isn't? If you're used to dealing with people when they're distressed, frustrated or need immediate help, we'd particularly like to hear from you.

📍 Milton Keynes

💰 £29,374.80 per annum

⏰ 42 hours per week

(4 days on, 4 off, 4 nights on, 4 off)

✅ Overtime paid up to double time

We're looking for people who can listen, think quickly and take the right action when a situation changes. As a SOC Operator, you'll respond to incoming calls and alarms, assess and prioritise incidents and make sure the appropriate action is taken.

Our team of SOC Operators deal with anything from a routine customer enquiry to an urgent alarm, welfare incident/concern, a potential break-in or someone needing urgent assistance.

If you are experienced in handling high volumes of calls, making quick decisions and supporting people through stressful or emotive situations, then this opportunity could be for you - You don't necessarily need a background in security.

We're particularly interested in people with experience in emergency or incident call handling, NHS or healthcare contact centres, police or public-service control rooms, emergency assistance, complaints, customer contact centres or other fast-paced environments.

As a SOC Operator, you'll need to remain calm, gather accurate information, communicate clearly and follow the correct process while helping the person on the other end of the phone. It’s more than just a job and offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to make a genuine difference every day.

Job Description

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Communicating with customers, colleagues, contractors and emergency services
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and integrity
  • Prioritising critical alarms, including fire and lone worker activations
  • Escalating issues appropriately and ensuring timely resolution
  • Dispatching emergency and security services when required
  • Conducting welfare checks for officers and lone workers
  • Responding effectively to changing priorities and incidents
  • Monitoring CCTV systems and alarm activations, managing mobile alarm callouts and coordinating responses and, monitoring gas detection and safety systems

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • The right to work in the UK with a 5-year checkable history
  • Must live within a 45-to-50-minute commute distance to the site
  • Strong customer service skills and a genuine passion for helping others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English – able to communicate with people from a wide range of backgrounds and at all levels
  • The ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure
  • High levels of integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive information
  • A flexible approach to working days, nights, weekends and public holidays
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A punctual, reliable and trustworthy approach to work
