Security Protection Officer in Security Ops - London
Division Overview
The Security Division within the Bank mitigates risks to the Bank’s property, infrastructure, people, services or assets being compromised, harmed, damaged, stolen or disrupted either by external actors and or people exploiting their access to Bank assets or premises.
Team
This role sits within the Personnel Security function of the Bank, protecting the Bank and its people from insider risk and extending the protection of the Bank beyond its physical buildings. The Protective Security Officer role is responsible for providing services that help the Bank to be safer and stronger both within and beyond the perimeter of Bank locations. Their focus is primarily on supporting the delivery of the travel security, access control, and other duties that enhance the personal safety of our colleagues.
The role requires a highly motivated, analytical, logical and hands-on Officer with a high level of accuracy and ability to work under pressure with limited supervision.
The Protection Officer will require confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all scales and the ability to work with a high level of discretion, and to deal with sensitive information. This role requires good analytical skills, attention to detail, the ability to react promptly to potential threats, and escalate issues appropriately.
Key Responsibilities:
The Protection Officer will work closely with other teams in Security Division, and across the Bank and the successful candidate will be expected to help further improve the capability and maturity of their own area of responsibility but also support the wider Personnel Security function.
The successful applicant will:
- Participate in all BAU activities and will be responsible for answering queries from stakeholders and liaising with other Security Staff and with the Security Network technical support staff.
- In line with the requests received, be responsible for accurately creating and removing security photo passes/users profiles and credentials and controlling the necessary access using the C-cure and Morpho Manager systems.
- Provisioning and catering capability to cards as required for new employees using the Systopia system.
- Control access to privileged areas on request from listed authorizers using the c-cure system.
- Produce data reports from systems on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc basis.
- Create and maintain team documentation to ensure it accurately reflects activities as undertaken.
- Work to identify and suggest enhancements in processes and technologies.
- Carry out System Administrator duties e.g. adding/deleting users; housekeeping on all systems that are under PACT scope.
- Assist internal/external audit and compliance with any audits/investigations.
- Provide Technical Security Administration e.g.
- C-Cure administration e.g. creating Door groups, programming of clearances etc.
- Support the Executive Protection Manager in delivering Technical Security Sweeps.
- Within the travel security function monitor and respond basic travel security requests and queries. Maintaining accurate information and updating the travel security systems appropriately, and escalating to a senior officer more complex/high risk travel security action. They are also expected to support as required the travel security function generally, but more specifically the pre and post travel and event briefings, with complex and/or higher risk activity lead by a senior officer.
- Monitoring the threat inbox. Conducting initial investigations/enquiries of those referrals, triaging the actions, and organizing any case conferences in response to triaging.
- Supporting the reviewing of visitors attending Bank events to identify possible risks through OSINT and information held by the Bank.
- Support the vetting functions via, processing of Biennial checks, and as the function evolves possible CIFAS and OSINT screening.

Role Requirements
Minimum criteria
- Previous and recent experience in a security or investigations role.
- Able to follow security processes accurately, consistently, make risk-based security recommendations, and identify when an issue needs escalated.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to process and maintain accurate records.
- Able to respond to stakeholder queries professionally, identify when an issue needs escalation.
- Able to handle sensitive information discreetly and work reliably under pressure with limited supervision.
Essential criteria
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills that focused on the ability to identify relevant information, triage issues, properly apply operating procedures as a guide rail to inform your next steps.
- Able to communicate clearly with stakeholders and adapting approach appropriately.
- Able to prioritise competing tasks, meeting deadlines, and escalating issues appropriately.
- Proven track record of building effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Desirable criteria
- Experience using access control, identity management, or security administration systems.
- Experience supporting travel security and/or event screening.
- Working knowledge of supporting or delivering technical security sweeps, including any relevant technical surveillance countermeasures or NACE-accredited qualification.

Salary and Benefits Information
The salary range for this position is £33,600 - £37,800.
In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
- Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.
- A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
- An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
- 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.

National Security Vetting Process
Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
