Security Supervisor

Contract: Government

Location: Coventry, CV8 3EN

Hours of work: 42

Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking a confident and experienced Security Supervisor to join ISS on a brand-new contract at the National College of Policing in Coventry. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in establishing and leading security operations on a high-profile site while ensuring the highest standards of service delivery.

Job Description

We are looking for a proactive leader with a strong background in security and team management who can build structure, accountability and consistency across the security function. The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for the customer, supervise a team of six Security Officers, and support the ongoing development of site standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support a team of six Security Officers across a 24/7 operation.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the customer on all security-related matters.
  • Monitor and manage employee performance, standards and conduct.
  • Ensure all site documentation, including Assignment Instructions, Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures, remains accurate and up to date.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, officer welfare checks and quality reviews.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and employee matters when required.
  • Deliver inductions, training and refresher sessions to support team development.
  • Champion health and safety initiatives, including Near Hit reporting and toolbox talks.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • Previous experience within the security industry.
  • Experience managing or supervising a team.
  • Strong leadership skills with the confidence to challenge behaviours and drive improvements.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • A proactive and organised approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to manage long-serving employees and implement change effectively.
  • Experience working with CCTV and ANPR systems would be advantageous.
  • An ex-police background would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain SC Clearance.
