Description: Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Would you like to play a key role in protecting one of Leicester's premier entertainment venues while delivering an exceptional customer experience? De Montfort Hall has been a cultural landmark for Leicester, Leicestershire and the wider region for over a century. Hosting approximately 250 events annually, the venue welcomes thousands of visitors each year to concerts, comedy performances, theatrical productions, community events and high-profile engagements. Haymarket Theatre, located in Leicester City Centre, complements this diverse portfolio with educational and performance-based activities throughout the year.
We are seeking an experienced and highly professional SIA Security Supervisor to lead our venue security operations. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the safety and security of customers, performers, contractors, staff, and visitors whilst maintaining full compliance with relevant legislation, licensing requirements and emerging counter-terrorism obligations under the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn's Law). Working closely with venue management, technical teams, front of house teams, touring productions, emergency services, and external partners, you will provide visible leadership and operational oversight during performances and events, ensuring effective security measures are embedded throughout all venue activities.
This is a permanent, site-based position working 37 hours per week. Due to the nature of the role, the majority of shifts will be evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Key Responsibilities
As Security Supervisor, you will be responsible for the effective leadership, management and deployment of the venue's security and car parking operations.
Key Duties Include
- Leading and supervising all security and car park personnel during events and daily operations.
- Ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained through effective planning, scheduling, and deployment of resources.
- Acting as the venue's operational lead for security, crowd management, and incident response.
- Supporting the development, implementation and continuous review of security strategies, plans, and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with the venue's Premises Licence requirements, health and safety legislation and all relevant security regulations.
- Taking a proactive role in the implementation and ongoing compliance requirements of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn's Law), including the development of security plans, terrorism risk assessments, staff awareness programmes, and incident response procedures.
- Reviewing and maintaining security-related risk assessments, operating procedures, and emergency plans.
- Working closely with external stakeholders including emergency services, local authorities, security contractors, and event promoters.
- Managing recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of casual security and car park staff.
- Conducting performance management, supervision, and regular team briefings to ensure high standards of professionalism and customer service.
- Leading on security incidents, investigations, conflict resolution, and customer safety concerns, making confident decisions under pressure.
- Ensuring all security operations balance robust safety measures with a positive visitor experience.
- Producing reports, maintaining accurate records, and supporting audits, inspections and compliance activity as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
