Main duties and responsibilities

Overall Purpose of the role

De Montfort University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Security Systems Administrator to join our team.

The Security Systems Administrator role is to maintain and administer the university's physical and digital Salto Space access control system, Avigilon CCTV, Traka Key logging, Security incident management system, Reveal Bodycam system, and others.

You will work closely with the wider Security team to ensure the Security Control Room is running at its optimum level.

The Security Systems Administrator role is a full-time position situated on our Leicester campus.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer the university's Salto Space access control system, including producing staff ID cards and setting appropriate access permissions for staff, students, and visitors.
  • Ensure that all physical electronic locks are up to date and have sufficient power to ensure continued use.
  • Administration within the Avigilon CCTV system and electronic key systems.
  • Assist with administration of the security incident management system.
  • Assist with the Security radio system.
  • Assist with implementation of the Estates Digital Transformation Strategy, and assist with the introduction of new systems and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Provide a friendly and customer-focused service while prioritising tasks in a high-demand environment.
  • Work with other departments to ensure the security and safety of the university community, ensuring work is undertaken in compliance with the UK’s Protect Duty.
  • Perform any other duties commensurate with the job grade as reasonably required by the Head of Security (or nominees) from time to time.

  • Have experience administering or supporting security systems such as access control, CCTV, key management, incident management, alarms, or similar technologies.
  • Enjoy troubleshooting technical issues and finding practical solutions.
  • Are comfortable working with databases, software applications, and network-connected systems.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and understand the importance of maintaining accurate records and permissions.
  • Can manage multiple tasks and prioritise in a busy operational environment.
