This role will be based on the university campus.

Are you passionate about leading people and delivering an excellent customer-focused service within a diverse university community? Do you enjoy supporting and developing teams while helping to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for students, staff and visitors? Are you looking for a varied leadership role where no two days are the same, and where your communication, judgement and people management skills are as important as your operational experience?

Security Services play an important role in supporting the University community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Alongside maintaining a safe campus environment, we provide reassurance, guidance and practical support to students, staff and visitors across the University.

We are looking for a professional, approachable and motivated Team Leader to help supervise and support our frontline Security Officers, ensuring a consistent, high-quality and customer focused service is delivered across campus.

The successful candidate will lead by example, helping to create a positive and supportive team culture while maintaining high professional standards, effective communication and a calm, solutions-focused approach to operational challenges.

Reporting to the Duty Operations Manager, the role will involve coordinating frontline activity, supporting staff development, and overseeing responses to incidents and welfare concerns to ensure Security Services remain a visible, approachable and trusted presence across the University.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Our main university campus is located on the edge of Leeds city centre and supports a vibrant and diverse community of more than 39,000 students and 9,000 staff. While much of our activity takes place on campus, Security Services also support a range of university locations across Leeds and the surrounding area.

Security Services work across the whole university estate, supporting students, staff and visitors through visible patrols, coordinated responses, welfare support and customer service. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

Security Services is part of the Facilities Directorate, which plays a key role in supporting the University's community and campus environment. As a Team Leader, you will help deliver a professional service that supports the University's teaching, research and wider activities.

A flexible approach is important as the role involves working a rotating shift pattern, including days, nights and weekends.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community. We would particularly welcome applications from women and other underrepresented groups within Security Services. Selection will be based solely on merit and the ability to meet the requirements of the role.
