Role Description

This self-employed Solicitor role is an on-site position based in London, offering autonomy to manage and grow a personal caseload while benefiting from the firm’s infrastructure and reputation. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Advising clients on legal matters
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents
  • Conducting legal research
  • Representing clients in negotiations and, where appropriate, hearings

Collaboration with other solicitors and support staff is encouraged to deliver consistent, high-quality service to clients.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor with a valid practicing certificate and strong knowledge of relevant areas of law (e.g., civil, commercial, family, or property), including current legislation and case law.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing an independent caseload, from initial client instruction through to resolution, with sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent client-facing skills, including clear written and verbal communication, ability to explain complex legal issues in accessible terms, and a professional, ethical approach.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with capability to handle multiple matters, meet deadlines, and manage billing and file administration effectively.
  • Proficiency with standard legal IT systems and document management tools; comfort using email, online research platforms, and basic office software.
  • Evidence of business development or networking experience, such as building client relationships, generating referrals, or contributing to marketing initiatives.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and compliance with regulatory requirements set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or equivalent body.
  • Ability to work independently on-site in London, while collaborating constructively with colleagues and support staff in a team-oriented environment.
