I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

As the ever growing, lucrative & secure Compliance job market expands, we are now looking for new Business Development Consultants. After full training (from the most knowledgeable in the business) as to the nuances of Anti Money Laundering, Compliance and other relevant functions (and the underlying sectors including the complexities around Financial Services), you will be encouraged to develop your own clientele from both cold & warm leads. Then once you have a new client firm interested, an experienced Consultant will finalise the detailed requirements (including writing the job spec if required) then run the assignment (finding & handling the candidates), leaving you free to focus on winning more business.

You will be working the hours and days that you choose as the positions are self employed initially, whether part-time or full-time and WFH anywhere in the UK, unless prefer to come into the office (next to the Bank of England in the City) some or all the week. We pay generous commission but no basic wage is included to start with.
