Role Description
GlasWeld Systems (UK) Ltd is looking for a motivated individual to operate as a self-employed mobile glass technician across Newcastle and the surrounding North East area.
This is a franchise-style business opportunity for someone who would like the freedom of working for themselves while benefiting from professional training, established branding, specialist equipment and ongoing support.
The successful applicant will provide mobile services including:
- Windscreen chip repairs
- Scratched glass restoration
- Headlight restoration
- Vehicle glass inspections for fleet and commercial customers
Day-to-day responsibilities will include inspecting vehicle glass and headlights, identifying suitable repair options and carrying out high-quality repairs using GlasWeld systems and approved materials.

The technician will also be responsible for:
- Managing appointments and their own daily workload
- Communicating clearly and professionally with customers
- Maintaining tools and equipment in safe working order
- Recording completed work accurately
- Following GlasWeld quality, health and safety standards
- Representing the GlasWeld brand professionally
- Developing local relationships and business opportunities
This is a mobile role covering Newcastle and the wider North East. But we have other areas within the UK. A van is not required; a reliable car is sufficient, and branded magnetic vehicle signs are provided.
Qualifications and Experience
Previous windscreen or glass repair experience is not essential, as full practical training is provided.
The opportunity would suit someone who has:
- Good practical and hands-on skills
- The ability to use and maintain specialist tools and equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A professional and approachable manner
- Good customer service and communication skills
- The ability to organise appointments and manage time effectively
- The confidence to work independently and develop their own business
- A willingness to work outdoors and travel throughout the local area
- A full valid driving licence and access to suitable transport
- A commitment to health and safety and high-quality workmanship

Experience in automotive repair, SMART repair, vehicle detailing, glazing, appliance repair, engineering, maintenance or another practical trade would be advantageous but is not essential.
Training and Investment
Full practical training is provided over four days at the GlasWeld training centre in Kent.
An initial investment of £2,000 plus VAT is required. But we can offer assistance with the fee. The successful applicant will also be responsible for their accommodation costs during the training course.

This is a self-employed opportunity. Earnings are not guaranteed and will depend on the work completed and the development of the technician’s local business.
