Jarrolds: Selling Manager Opportunity
Jarrolds is Norwich's iconic independent department store, offering a unique mix of retail, dining, and customer experiences at the heart of the city. We are passionate about creating memorable experiences for our customers and believe that exceptional service, great products, and talented people are at the centre of everything we do.
We are looking for an inspiring and commercially-minded Selling Manager to support the continued transformation of our selling culture. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping how customers discover, experience, and shop at Jarrolds, while developing our managers and teams to deliver exceptional service and commercial performance. The role is responsible for embedding a proactive, customer-focused sales mindset and developing high-performing sales teams.
This is a full-time position working 5 days per week onsite, based within our London Street store.
Responsibilities
- Leading and embedding a proactive selling culture across the business
- Developing and coaching managers and sales teams to build a high-performing, customer-focused sales culture
- Strengthening selling capability across the retail business to deliver measurable improvements in conversion, average transaction value, and customer engagement
- Using sales, customer, and performance insight to identify opportunities, drive accountability, and improve commercial outcomes
- Working closely with Marketing teams to maximise the impact of campaigns, events, and customer initiatives
- Driving loyalty participation, customer engagement, and sales performance
- Defining and embedding selling standards that reflect the Jarrolds brand and deliver a consistent, exceptional customer experience
- Leading behavioural and cultural change to ensure active selling becomes a core part of the customer journey across all areas of the store
- Monitoring and evaluating performance against key measures, recognising success, and implementing targeted improvement plans where required

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is passionate about retail, customer experience, and developing people. This role would suit an experienced retail leader who enjoys coaching others, influencing change, and creating a high-performance culture.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience leading sales or customer-facing teams within a retail environment
- Have a strong track record of coaching and developing managers and teams
- Be commercially-minded, with a strong understanding of retail KPIs and customer engagement
- Be confident using data and insight to identify opportunities and drive action
- Have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Be comfortable influencing behavioural and cultural change
- Be passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences
