Regulatory Compliance Lead

We are currently recruiting a Regulatory Compliance Lead, to join our SEMD (Security Emergency Measure Direction) team. This role will enable the business to gain legislative compliance to SEMD outcomes through effective, timely, professional and honest response to legal instruments and ad-hoc reporting requirements to the DWI, Ofwat and other regulators. Across our SEMD portfolio, the role will also enable effective assurance of regulatory compliance to security provisions in place across the Organisation.

What you will be doing as a Regulatory Compliance Lead

  • Deliver effective, robust regulatory reports in line with legislative requirements and timelines associated with externally led ad-hoc reporting mechanisms and pre-agreed enforcement milestones.
  • Work collaboratively across various business functions to gather business and financial data to enable compilation of timely, effective and insightful external regulatory response requirements for our Regulators.
  • Effectively assure compliance of security measures across the business through provision of agreed assurance strategies to measure compliance success and intervention for improvement, where required following review.
  • Utilise milestone trackers and dashboards to effectively and efficiently maintain records for management of required external reporting associated with successful delivery of the SEMD deliverables across multiple legal instruments.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the SEMD team to enable efficient progress across the programme, both regarding project deliverables led by the SEMD team and in support of deliverables to be met by other Thames Water teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
