SEMH Teaching Assistant - Reading
Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs?
A Secondary SEMH School in Reading is looking for a caring and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring Psychologists, Therapists, Counsellors or Teachers to gain hands-on experience in an SEMH setting.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students.
- Support students with emotional regulation, confidence and engagement.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
- Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe, supportive environment.
- Monitor students' wellbeing, behaviour and progress.

We're looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant who is:
- Compassionate, patient and resilient.
- Passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs.
- A confident communicator and positive role model.
- Interested in pursuing a career in psychology, education, therapy or mental health.
- Able to remain calm and supportive when managing challenging behaviour.

Job Details
- Location: Reading
- Setting: Secondary SEMH School
- Start Date: ASAP
- Pay: £93-£110 per day
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
- Contract: Full-time
