SEMH Cover Supervisor

Location: Swindon

Salary: £130 - £170 per day (depending on experience and responsibilities)

Start Date: September 2026

About the Role

Connex Education is recruiting confident and adaptable specialist Cover Supervisors to work within an independent specialist school in Swindon from September 2026.

We have opportunities available on a day-to-day supply, short-term and long-term basis, making this an ideal role for those seeking flexibility or looking to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing into teaching.

The setting supports pupils aged approximately 11–16 years who may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, additional learning needs, school refusal and barriers to mainstream education. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences while supporting pupils to remain engaged and focused.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Manage classroom behaviour positively and consistently
  • Support students to engage with learning activities
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Promote a safe and structured learning environment
  • Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
