Job title: SEMH Teaching Assistant Job
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Liverpool, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
This is a Full Time position, working with pupils who require additional support with learning, communication, and personal development.
The school caters for pupils with a variety of needs and provides a highly supportive environment with experienced staff and access to specialist training, making it an excellent opportunity for a SEMH Teaching Assistant looking to develop their experience in a specialist setting.

SEN Teaching Assistant Role Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within an SEN setting
- Experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs e.g. ASD, ADHD, etc
- Strong communication, patience, and resilience
- Ability to build positive and consistent relationships with pupils
- A proactive and adaptable approach
- Willingness to support with personal care if required (training provided)
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply

The Successful SEN Teaching Assistant Will
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assist with both learning activities and personal development
- Support pupils with communication, behaviour, and engagement
- Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and wider support staff
- Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs
